Thank you for visiting the Riverside Local School District Curriculum and Resources Page! We believe in being transparent in WHAT we teach, as well as HOW we teach our students. Below you will find information regarding our curriculum and the resources we use in our courses.
By definition, curriculum is a standards-based sequence of planned experiences where students practice and achieve proficiency in content and applied learning skills. Curriculum is the central guide for all teachers as to what is essential for teaching and learning so that every student has access to rigorous academic experiences. This means that the curriculum is WHAT we teach. Riverside teachers use the Ohio Learning Standards as the curriculum for all courses. Here is the Ohio Department of Education’s website that gives the full details of the standards for each subject and course:
Local school districts have the ability to decide HOW to teach these standards, which allows us to select materials for our students that we believe will best support their learning of these standards. In the dropdown menu of Curriculum & Instruction, you will find a description of the programs we use (as well as links to the websites so you can learn more about them) for elementary, middle school and high school courses. This information will help you understand HOW we teach the standards to our students.
