Ohio Auditor of State Awards

The District received two awards from the Auditor of State’s Office for its most recently completed financial audit for fiscal year 2022.

The Riverside Local School District received two awards from the Auditor of State’s Office for its most recently completed financial audit for fiscal year 2022.

The first Auditor of State Award was presented to the District for its clean audit report. To qualify for the award, the District must file timely financial reports with the Auditor of State’s Office in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Also, the audit report must not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit) findings or questioned costs. Lastly, there are no financial or other concerns. Fiscal year 2022 represents the eighth consecutive year that the District received this prestigious award.

The second award relates to the Auditor of State’s Star Rating System (StaRS) for monitoring transparency in government. School districts and other public entities are audited and assigned a star rating ranging from zero stars to four stars. Entities that are compliant with all Sunshine Law requirements will receive one star. Additional stars are awarded to entities that implement additional best practices as defined by the Auditor of State. For fiscal year 2022, Riverside received a four-star rating indicating the highest achievement in open and transparent government for implementing five or more best practices. The District has received this award every year since its introduction in 2020.
