Riverside donates to Wreaths Across America
Staff members across the District teamed up with local business owner Dean Bader to raise money for National Wreaths Across America Day, which was on Saturday, December 17.
Each December, the mission to remember and honor veterans is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as 1,100 additional locations across the country.
Locally, about 400 wreaths were laid on veterans' graves at the Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
Bader, who is a veteran and owner of Digital Imaging Specialist, had asked Riverside Local Schools to get involved in the fundraising due to the need for more wreaths. The District held a staff denim day, which raised more than $1,000. Bader also 'challenged' Madison and Perry Local School Districts as well as American Legion Post 112 to get involved and the four organizations combined to raise $2,250.
